LawPractica - FAQ

LawPractica helps Canadian law firms manage client matters, time entries, billing, trust accounting, bank reconciliation, document automation, business continuity, and document workflows in one cloud-based platform.

What is LawPractica?

LawPractica is the all-in-one practice management and legal accounting platform purpose-built for Canadian law firms. Unlike competitors that force you to run practice management in one system, accounting in another, and document automation in yet another, LawPractica combines matter management, time & billing, general & trust accounting, three-way trust reconciliation, bank reconciliation, document automation, cost recovery, and business continuity in a single cloud platform.

Firms no longer need to stitch together multiple systems with limited Canadian depth. LawPractica is one system, one database, one source of truth — designed specifically for Law Society compliance across Canada.

How to login into LawPractica?

LawPractica does not publish a single public login URL. Each law firm is given its own dedicated workspace address, in the form of a dedicated subdomain such as https://demo.lawpractica.com (https://<firm-name>.lawpractica.com). Opening that address in your browser displays the firm’s sign-in page.

To open the login page, use the workspace URL provided when the firm was set up. You can also find it in the LawPractica welcome or user-invitation email, or ask your firm’s administrator. If you cannot locate the address, contact us and we will point you to the correct workspace. Searching for a generic “LawPractica login” will not surface a firm sign-in page.

Does LawPractica provide split invoices?

Split invoices are especially important for firms migrating from legacy systems such as PCLaw. We understand this need and are actively developing the feature. It is planned for release by the end of Q4 2026.

Is LawPractica bilingual, especially English & French?

As a Canadian company, we understand the importance of bilingual practice management and accounting software for law firms across the country. LawPractica is currently available in English. A full French version is planned for release by the end of Q2 2027.

Does LawPractica offer a dedicated mobile application?

LawPractica is fully optimized for mobile devices and works seamlessly on smartphones and tablets through any modern browser — no native app to install, update, or maintain. This approach eliminates the need for access to device storage, camera, or other hardware, while still requesting only the permissions that add real value: microphone access for speech-to-text time entry and GPS for geo-location security controls. Because it runs in the browser, LawPractica remains fully accessible even during air travel over in-flight Wi-Fi, giving lawyers and staff the flexibility to work from anywhere without compromising security or performance.

Does LawPractica offer customized dashboards (beyond the built-in Personal and Firm dashboards)?

Yes. LawPractica delivers rich, real-time visualization across the entire platform, including powerful Personal and Firm dashboards with full drill-down reporting so users can go from high-level KPIs straight to the underlying transactions. For larger firms that need tailored analytics, we offer secure Microsoft Power BI integration. Authorized users can connect to the LawPractica database in read-only mode and build their own custom dashboards and reports in real time — without ever exposing write access or compromising data security. This combination of built-in intelligence and enterprise-grade Power BI flexibility gives every firm exactly the visibility it needs.
